"I thought Iron Maiden was playing"--Unknown attendee to Taz
"The best metal act to play here in a long time"--Unknown attendee to Taz
"THAT was metal...Took us back to the old days!"--Inertia bandmember
"...sounded like Metal Church or something"--Unknown attendee
"What did he just say?"--Person in the audience who just realized that I said "Cock" on stage...

Well, this was a surprise show...because we didn't get asked until the Thursday before the show if we could play. It was definitely a night of diversity. SUBURBAN SMACKDOWN opened the show with their unique brand of music that I can only describe as "lounge-punk". Then, PROD took the stage, and we were summarily impressed. Imagine Mr. Bungle with a nu-metal singer....
I think that somebody put a curse on us whenever we play at Tazz's...fucked up things always happen there. I forgot to pass out the setlist, then the drum mic's were acting funky...

We started out with Necrospasm, and worked our way into Tipper Gore...where I tripped on a cord and fell...much to the laughter of everyone there...played the usual songs, until we got to some new ones...Beyond Death is a work in progress, and it keeps getting better each time we play it. The crowd enjoyed Out In The Cold, and as we worked our way into the last couple songs of the set, we had them enthralled.

I was a little pissed that nobody was moshing, but at least they were applauding after each song...and most of them looked like they meant it...then I made a classic blunder: I had just wrote a new song guaranteed to offend some people and I forgot to gauge the response by asking how many fans of Metallica were in the room...Garbage Days, a new song about Metallica, left the audience in a not-too-happy mood as they realized I was making fun of their favorite band....oops! But they seemed to like Another Side of Me, another new song that wasn't making fun of anyone...but you could tell they were still stinging from the Metallica jokes...
Here are the lyrics, so that you'll know what I'm talking about...

GARBAGE DAYS REVISITED
They used to be just like the best
making music unlike the rest
You never saw them on a video
You never heard them on the radio

But now, they suck cock!
They sold their souls to MTV!

It started out with Kill 'em all,
Ride the lightning and Master of Puppets
then I don't know what happened
the black album was their gateway...

Now, they suck cock!
They sold their souls to MTV!
(break & solo)

Garbage Days Revisited
It's all the same on the MTV
They steal your life
then they steal your soul
regurgitating the same old shit

But now, they suck cock!
They sold their souls to MTV!
I know it's true that they suck!
They sold their souls!

Well, then INERTIA took the stage...they are an interesting group. I've heard them before, and I like their sound. EPSTEIN's MOTHER then took the stage and began the set with their usual show-opener "Big Brass Balls"...then played a mix of covers and originals. These guys rock, I just wish they would play more original music. They did do a kick-ass Rage Against The Machine cover, though.

GO BACK!!
