Well...every band has a night where nothing goes right, and this was definitely one of those nights. We learned a lot from the experience, though...and are taking steps to insure that these problems do not occur again. It wasn't any one person's fault, as it was a technical problem with some new equipment that we are using.
THRM started out the night with their interpretation of the chaos theory. They were reminiscent of Atom Smasher, or early Fantomas. Nobody enjoyed it very much, but I liked it once they began using a noticeable beat.
We took over the stage, and tried out our new fog machine, which caused the weak crowd to back away in fear of a fire...pussies....
It was definitely a strange night, with a strange crowd...these people wouldn't know how to support a band if their lives depended on it. Staying seated the whole night, they were probably the laziest crowd we've played to.
KEVORKIAN's MACHINE took the stage, and played an excellent set. You could tell that the lead singer was getting pissed at the lazy crowd, as he heckled them for most of the set.
MACHINA then took the stage. These guys really have their shit together. A 7 piece machine from Indianapolis, they gave a show reminiscent of early MINISTRY, complete with eerie sound-clips, and keyboard lines. Their vocalist made a vain attempt to get the people excited, but unfortunately to no avail. I think there might have been a small mosh pit started, but it ended too quickly.
MELTDOWN then closed the house with a set reminiscent of TOOL...or something I can't describe. I liked their sound, though...and they put on a good show. This was the only time that people actually stood close to the stage, but they wouldn't mosh...even at the exortations of the band to get off their asses...wierd fucking crowd.
Oh, well....I guess it doesn't matter if they're lazy, as long as they paid to get in...
